Blue Carbon of Greece
The project “Blue Carbon of Greece” was about the designation of white papers for the conservation of the priority habitat 1120* - Posidonia oceanica – in Greece.
Three studies have been performed and the white papers have been produced to support high level policy and obligartions from the Paris Agreement:
Management of the banquetes of seagrass on sandy beaches,

Study on the seabed’s natural carbon sequestration capacity and related impacts from seabed-disturbing activities
The main objective of this study is to review existing knowledge on the natural capacity of different types of seabed habitats in European waters to sequester carbon, to map the distribution of carbon in European seas and to assess the impact of human activities that physically disturb the seabed on its carbon sequestration capacity.
Funding: CINEA.
